To implement Action 3 the European Commission has set up a multidisciplinary working group, launched as the Implementation Group on Human Biomonitoring (HBM). This Implementation Group consists of experts in the field of HBM from the EU Member States and others such as Croatia. In order to address all the aspects of Action 3, future meetings of the Implementation Group will be divided if appropriate into ad hoc subgroups on specific issues (integration scenarios, communication strategies, comparable protocols, etc.), and ad hoc experts on specific issues may be invited.

The Commission launched 2 projects in order to support the Implementation Group on Human Biomonitoring. The projects will provide answers to specific questions related to the coordination and integration of national research and surveillance programmes on HBM. The project deliverables will be analysed and discussed with the Implementation Group, who will then prepare "Recommendations" for the Member States and Consultative Group on Environment and Health, Member States and Consultative Group on Environment and Health, are consulted on a regular basis during the process of preparing the Pilot Project.
